Vattenfall is one of Europe´s largest electricity generators and producer of heat, with operations in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. Our strategy is to reduce emissions from power generation with an ambition to become fossil free within one generation. 

Business Area Wind is responsible for Vattenfall’s Onshore and Offshore Wind as well as other non-hydro Renewable activities like Solar and Batteries. Today we develop, construct and operate wind generation and solar and batteries installations in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. 

 
Vattenfall is now looking for a passionate professional to fill the position of Reference Designation System Specialist (RDS) with focus on Asset Registers within our Business Area Wind, Offshore, Engineering. 
 
What will you do?  

The Engineering department is the technical know-how center and home of technical competences within BA Wind, setting the standards and guidelines as well as being embedded within our projects to drive technical excellence through the whole project lifecycle. 

Working within the Systems Engineering department of Engineering, the Data Engineering team is responsible for the management and provision of data, as well as the standardization of the data for the full wind farm asset life cycle. The Data Engineering team is the driver for digitalization in Offshore Engineering. 

This is an opportunity to be part of the foundational work that is required to run the Wind business in a smarter and more scalable way. 

Your key responsibilities 

As Reference Designation System (RDS) Specialist with focus on Asset Registers you will work with a team of engineers and be responsible for delivering Technical Asset Registers to our Asset Projects in a structured, timely and qualitative way, thus enabling data integration from the start of Operations. You lead technical topics and take decisions in your area of responsibility. In so doing, you are an essential part of the effort to enable automation and data driven operations. 

Key deliverables and activities: 

  • Ensure delivery of a complete asset register for a new wind farm based on RDS-PP T32. (VGB-S-823-32-2014-03-EN-DE); 

  • Liaise with and contribute to development of new industry standards, most notably RDS-PS (IEC 81346); 

  • Integrate RDS into various parts of the organization; 

  • Examination of existing RDS-PP structures on formal and/or content-related and technical correctness; unification of different structures; determination of missing entries and correction of any non-compliant designations and/or denominations; 

  • Creation of generic templates, based on RDS-PP T32 (VGB-S-823-32-2014-03-EN-DE), for previously non-existent structures and systems; 

  • Support early-stage projects with choosing and implementation of the naming convention which will result in the best business solution for the project by taking scope of work into account for all phases of the lifetime; 

  • Assigning Spare Parts to the appropriate level of RDS-PP;

  • Promoting and defining best practices on RDS-PP implementation;

  • Providing awareness and expert training for relevant stakeholders. 

 
Location:   
Flexible within one of our five main offices, preferably in the London area, either Amsterdam, Hamburg, Stockholm or Kolding. You will need to be flexible and travelling will be necessary on a regular basis. 

Your profile

Who are you? 

You are a highly motivated and communicative professional, who is used to working in virtual teams. You are proven skilled in dealing with strategic, highly complex issues, problems and challenges. You have the ability to develop detailed solutions, while always maintaining a higher-level perspective. Health and safety is of your highest priority. Your English skills are strong, both verbally and written. You take responsibility, provide transparency and display a collaborative mindset. When needed, you are capable of handling multiple tasks at the same time. You are flexible and can adjust to changing circumstances. You value differences in background and culture.

To be quickly comfortable in the role you bring: 

  • You have a master’s degree in electrical or marine engineering or similar;

  • At least 5 years of relevant working experience, preferably from working a similar position in the energy sector or a technical industry;

  • You have experience and expertise in Reference Designation Systems;

  • A proven track record with RDS-PP T32 is desirable including experience with asset related data;

  • You have experience with working with OEMs;

  • Bring some experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP) is considered advantageous.
